Treasury Sanctions Syrian Officials

Treasury Sanctions Syrian Officials: Dawood Rajih, the defense minister, was appointed in August 2011 for his loyalty to President Bashar al-Assad, Treasury said. Munir Adano, the army chief of staff, has served in that position since at least July 2010, and accompanied Assad on trips abroad. He was sanctioned by the European Union in August 2011 for his involvement in the crackdown on protesters in Syria.
