After using its veto power in the Security Council to halt any efforts to remove President Assad of Syria, the Russian government came out swinging at the Syrian strongman. President Medvedev stated bluntly to Assad: “if the Syrian leadership is incapable of conducting such reforms, it will have to go.” In other words, end the violence, create some semblance of a democratic government or the roof will fall in.
