First I am NOT a pro! Everything I learned is from Egyptian Protesters, directly or indirectly.
1. Open a Twitter account, and as many other social networking accounts as possible. Some may seem like a waste of time, but I add them anyway, at least to begin planting seeds for Human Rights everywhere.
As you begin to follow a supporter or protester of human rights, notice who is sending in relevant information, and then follow them too. Retweet all relevant reports concerning human rights, if they pour in too fast, try to focus on the most urgent issues, I usually consider those in physical danger priority. I have noticed that posting only tragic news can make my follows feel depressed, as well as myself, so I try my best to keep it as positive as possible. [NOT EASY WHILE PROTESTING ATROCITIES!] I follow some people that have positive quotes from altruists and real leaders from history, so retweet something funny or inspiring once in awhile.
If I see a new face posted on my page, I will try to take the time to check their profile, their tweets, and it is a good idea to see if anyone you trust is following them, check "followers" and then followers that you follow.
Another thing is a quick way to sabotage all your efforts is to start arguing about politics or religion with fellow tweeps, don't do it! If you want to join twitter to share the gospel, do it, but that is not human rights support. (Being that I am a Universal Minister, I support freedom of religion and will retweet most prayers regardless of religious preference, and I join them in prayer!
[I personally see the Golden Threads in the foundation of most religions i.e., the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." "Harm none" "These are all Christ in disguise" "Mohammed loved Allah with ALL his heart" The names Allah and God are synonyms for the Creator of Heaven and Children. Try not to get hung up on words. I am not republican, but I will follow republicans that are supporting human rights for all humans.. we must look past our differences on other issues to unite for human rights for everyone, which includes freedom of religion and voting preferences. Anyway, enough of religion and politics... back to human rights.. ]
Realize that we are literally at war here, and are focused on some serious news sharing about people in danger. There is a place and a time for everything, supporting human rights for all humans regardless of religious and political affiliations, race, nationality, gender, etc. All discrimination must be set aside.
Open another twitter account for other topics, if you want your human rights wall to be effective for helping human rights --just my personal opinion, it is a free world, so do as you please. (Just giving my take on it.)
You can have two twitter accounts for human rights so when you reach you limit, log out and go to the other one, or start sharing posts on Facebook and other websites.
Install @addthis on your toolbar for faster way to keep all your websites updated with current news. Some advise against @addthis, because it doesn't let the protester know you are supporting them, because it doesn't work on their tweet or facebook counter. I try to show support with a "like" "recommend" or comment, and do share using their share buttons when I am not pressed for time.
oh yeah, when you reach your tweet limit, and it says, "Wow, that's a lot of twittering, wait for a few hours" you can still "favorite" plenty more links. When you favorite a link, it also lets the sender know that you have "mentioned" them.
When I want to know what leaders are doing about all this crime going on that I am tweeting, I go to Google.com, and type in Assad, Mubarak, or Gaddafi, International Criminal Court, etc (or topic of your concern) click search, AND then look for the tab that says "more tools" on your Google page, ... on a computer it should be at the left side of page, about half way down. Click on it, and then click on "past 24 hours" to get the latest.
Watch for false news, as thugs are online posting now too. Read the article to make sure it is supporting freedom fighters before posting, or once in a while post it only on twitter just to show others what kind of crap they are saying. But don't waste precious time and energy arguing with thugs. They are just hecklers trying to distract you from the Great Work! :)
If you find an urgent situation, try your best to retweet all their tweeets for continued support. I am trying to help too many people really, so I have sort had to change my role from direct supporter to fishing for supporters, and still supporting too of course!
During the Egyptian Revolution I became in a panic when I was getting so many urgent tweets, and twitter said "try again in a few hours" ... That's when I started opening other websites to share news, and Google to find out if leaders are doing anything yet!
I also write government leaders often, several times a week, sometimes several times a day. I try to be careful not to ask for anything protesters do not want. Intervention may be needed, but the protesters must be the ones to decide what type of intervention is desired. Please, regardless of your opinion, focus on what protesters think is best, instead of what you think is best... it is the "whole idea" behind supporting "freedom of choice" "freedom of expression" "freedom of press" "freedom of speech" "freedom of religion" democracy etc. Support is about supporting them, not my own personal ideas.
How do I know who to support? When people are being hurt, injustice is obvious. I don't have to know "everything" about the issue. If an issue is beyond my knowledge of the subject, I wait to see if the protesters I am supporting support the idea. I am supporting "human rights" and the "freedom of speech" not necessarily in agreement with every idea, but it's not about me, it is about freedom!

share news to help give voice where mainstream media fails.. join these free websites add each one to your toolbar, using @addthis makes it easy to keep up with updating multiple websites. However, the disadvantage is the journalist or reporter may not know you have supported by sharing their news.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/51083150@N07/show/ - Flicker is a good place to share photos, and you can create various photo albums such as, Assad Crimes, Gaddafi Crimes, Mubarak Crimes, etc.
When photos are very graphic, flickr sometimes removes them! CNNiReport, Blogger, Newsvine and Care2 will let you post there, but you have to write a story, or share a story related to the photo. You can cut and paste, but "quote sources" or put in you own words. Please be careful not to speak for Freedom Fighters accidentally -let reader know your opinion from Voice of Demonstrators ...as Freedom of Speech is the whole point. I have received some opposition online, which I have responded with an apology for an error, and also recognizing if someone curses you out, don't take it personally, mentally give them an A+ for freedom of expression. :)
Maybe I should explain, I once received a message saying "F%$# You and F&%# the United Nations" ... probably because I suggested victims report crimes against humanity to UN and ICC, and people have been tortured for reporting crimes! Now I understand why that may not be good advice for a demonstrator / protester, but supporters should write letters to protest the corruption and violence.. in my humble opinion, and remain open to change my mind, with additional information.
For the most part, I am here to support Freedom Fighters, by helping amplifying "their" voice, but sometimes I get so angry about all the violence and injustice, my voice becomes amplified too, thus, my freedom of expression.

Unless they are thugs of course, don't even give them the time of day. They are just energy vampires, like hecklers that try to distract you from your mission. arguing or even speaking to them is a 100% waste of time and energy. Speaking from experience hehehe
The worst thing they can do to you is insult you, and you could insult them, and then we waste precious time acting like juveniles hehehe, I guess this is dictator's Intelligence Agency, whatever!
Anyway, facebook is awesome, even though it is like having a condo, manual of rules the size of a bible. My wall is open, human rights news is always welcome to post on my wall anytime, including comments. ...and please send me a message if you notice any discrimination on on my wall and I will block the source.

On twitter labels are called hash tags, example, #Assad #Mubarak #Gaddafi #Crimes #SyriaBleeds #Libya #TrueStory ..etc when many are using the same tag, it becomes recognized as “Trend” that promotes public awareness.
There is so much more to say, but I have to get back to work, explore! The best way to learn is hands on.
