For 22 days now, the shells and rockets have fallen. Snipers stationed atop buildings have cut people off from family and friends, making residents' movements along streets or just between houses a frightening race for their lives. The daily death toll is chilling and quickly adds up to at least 100 by the end of each week. There are grave fears the official toll may be much, much higher.

The bloody and harrowing videos shot by brave citizens are the main record of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's slaughter of his people - and the idea that there has been no international intervention as this conflict enters its 12th month remains all but impossible to understand.
